Abstract

This research aims to examine in depth the implementation of office management and its influence on increasing the effectiveness of administration in Islamic educational institutions, with the focus of the study on Madrasah Aliyah Roudhotun Nawawi located in Karangpawitan District, Garut Regency. This research is motivated by the increasing need for a professional, well-organised, and Islamic values-based administrative system, which is the main foundation in the implementation of education in the institution. In the midst of globalisation and rapid advances in information technology, educational administration management faces increasingly complex challenges, thus demanding a managerial approach that is systematic, adaptive, and in line with Islamic spiritual values.

This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through direct observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews with key informants (principals, administrative staff and teachers), and review of school administrative documents and archives. Through a data triangulation approach, this research critically analyses how the four main functions of office management - planning, organising, implementing and supervising - are implemented in daily administrative practices in the madrasah environment.

The results show that the implementation of systematic office management has contributed significantly to improving the effectiveness of administrative services, both in terms of inter-section coordination, orderly filing, and services to students and parents. However, this study also found a number of obstacles that still need to be overcome, such as the lack of an optimal digital filing system, inequality in the distribution of administrative staff workload, and limited ongoing managerial training. These findings indicate the need for strategies to strengthen institutional capacity through professional training and administrative governance innovations based on Islamic values.

This research contributes to the development of an office management model in the context of Islamic education, which not only emphasises administrative efficiency and effectiveness, but also pays attention to ethical, spiritual and cultural values that become the identity of the institution. This model is expected to be a practical reference for madrasah and other Islamic educational institutions in managing administration professionally without ignoring the roots of Islamic values
